22 HOUR OVERNIGHT CANYON TUNA TRIPS – 30 Passenger Limit
&
31-HOUR CANYON TUNA • TILE • MAHI TRIPS – 28 Passenger Limit

Recommended Fishing Tackle:

NOTE: BRAIDED LINE is NOT permitted for bait fishing on Tuna trips. If there is braided line you must have at least 200 yards of Mono Top-Shot. Braided line may be used for “jigging only” as long as you are not interfering with the chunking lines. (Captains decision is final). Bait provided is: Sardines and Butterfish. If you want to catch live bait it is recommended to bring a light spin outfit and squid jigs.

Tuna Rods and Reels - One stand-up type tuna rod with a Penn 6/0 or 2-speed 30 or 50 conventional reel (60 to 80-lb. test monofilament line), plus one 7-foot tuna jigging rod with Penn 4/0 or equivalent reel (60-lb test monofilament or 65 to 80-lb test braided line)

Tuna Tackle - 50, 60 and 80-lb test fluorocarbon leader material, barrel swivels (provided), 5/0 to 8/0 chunking or circle hooks (7/0 chunking hooks provided), 6 to 8-oz hammer finish diamond jigs, 1oz to 8oz egg sinkers, 8 to 16-oz bank sinkers, rubber bands.

Mahi Rods and Reels - One light to medium spinning rod (20-25lb test monofilament or 30-50lb braided line) for Mahi

Mahi Tackle - 1/0 and 2/0 hooks, and assorted small lures and jigs

Squid & Bait Rods and Reels - One light spinning rod and reel for squid and bait fishing (12 to 15-lb monofilament)

Squid & Bait Tackle - Squid jigs and sabiki-style bait rigs.

Tilefish Tackle for 31 Hour trips

4/0 to 6/0 Reel or equivalent, (preferably 6/0).

Heavy boat rod, 50Lb to 80lb. Power Pro Line or equivalent

(mono line can be used, not recommended, because of stretch), use at least 300 yards of Power Pro over mono backing.

4/0 - 7/0 Bait Holder hooks, sinkers from 20oz TO 4LBS.
Electric reel would be advantageous, (We do not have electric reels)
TACKLE CAN BE PURCHASED ABOARD THE BOAT

Fish on the bottom with a rig similar to a fluke rig.

Usually one hook tied to a dropper loop close to the sinker, 18” to 24” leader. A high-lo rig may also be used.

The bait used is squid, mackerel fillet, clams. (Squid or mackerel are best.)

 FISHING IN DEPTH’S  FROM  350-500’
